Mr. James Quashone “Shon” Scott

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. James Quashone Scott of Darlington. “Shon” as he was affectionately called, passed on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in Florence, South Carolina.

Funeral Service is 12 Noon Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. James Quashone Scott was born on March 11, 1985 in Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of  James Davis and Vernessa Scott. He entered into his eternal resting place on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

He received his formal education in Darlington County Public Schools, Class of 2003.

“Shon”, as he was affectionately called, lived all his life in Darlington.  He was a loving, caring and giving person.  Shon loved people and could lift your spirits when you were sad.

Those left to cherish his loving memories are:  his mother, Vernessa Scott; his father, James Davis both of Darlington, SC; a very special friend, Teronica Graham of Dovesville, SC; four children: Kaden Myshon Scott of Dovesville, SC, La’Anna Moore, Le’Andra Moore and Na’talya Moore all of Darlington, SC; five siblings: Leketa Davis of Florence, SC, Quentin Kennedy, Quinn Kennedy, Brandon McFadden and Janashia Davis all of Darlington, SC; a special cousin he grew up with as his own brother, Stevie Washington; two cousins he grew up in the home with, Latonya Tumblin and Ron Scott; a special friends, Ronald Hickman and Antenard Rouse; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents: Truth and Carrie Scott Pooler; his paternal grandparents: Evalina Davis and James Davis, Sr.; his maternal great great-grandmother, Dessie Scott; his great grandmothers: Martha Ann Scott and Mamie “Peggy” Bell; three uncles: Willie Mouzon, Willis Mouzon and Edward Scott.

Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence of a cousin, Shameeka Washington, 701 Joe Louis Blvd., Darlington, SC.
