Obituary
“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven.” II Corinthians 5:1-2
Mr. James Holloway was born on April 6, 1938, in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Ben Charles “B.C.”Holloway and Dorothy Rogers. James exchanged time for eternity on Friday, June 7, 2024, at his son’s residence following an illness.
“Kiss,” as he was affectionately called, attended the public schools of Darlington County. He was a building supervisor for Berkeley Square in Brooklyn, NY, and spent many years living the city life before relocating back to his home, Darlington.
James was a loving, kind, giving individual. He did not mind helping others even if it was not reciprocated. He was an avid card player and found joy in spending time at a card table. James was a fixer and enjoyed spending time and using his expertise in repairing items and getting them back to functioning.
James loved his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. A great meal was another thing James enjoyed, and Thunderbird was one of his favorite eateries.
Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. James “Kiss” Holloway are his children: James Holloway, Jr., of Charlotte, NC, and Danita Arceneaux and Jamye Arceneaux, both of Darlington, SC; his grandchildren: Xandria Holloway, Cameron Hodges, Dante Pinckney, Dyamond Blackmon, Angel Hoskins, Kendall Hoskins, Jr., and Londyn Arceneaux; great grandchildren: Amaria McCurdy, Audi Pickney, Andonis Pinckney, and Asaiah Durante; an aunt, June Dunham of Brooklyn, NY; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
