Mr. Jamal Omari McElveen

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and the staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the McElveen Family announces the passing of Mr. Jamal Omari McElveen of Darlington. Mr. McElveen was a senior at Darlington High School. Mr. McElveen passed on Monday, January 17, 2022 in Prisma Health, Columbia, SC.

Funeral service is 12 Noon on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing for this service.  

Obituary

    “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Rev. 21:4

    Mr. Jamal Omari McElveen was born in Florence, South Carolina a son of John McElveen and Michelle Seabrooks McElveen.  He departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2022 in Prisma Health Richland, Columbia, SC.

   He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School and would have graduated with Class of 2022.

    At the time of his passing he was employed at Burger King in Darlington.

    “Bando Mal”, as he was affectionately called by his friends and sisters, was a fun loving, energetic person who loved music.

     He was preceded in death by: his maternal grandmother, Gloria Seabrooks.

    Those left to cherish his memory are:  his parents: John McElveen and Michelle McElveen of the home; his sisters: Eyanna McElveen and Janya McElveen both of the home; his paternal grandparents: Shelby McElveen and Steve (Rosella) McElveen both of Darlington, SC; a special uncle, Wayne Sweeney of Florence, SC; two special aunts: Regina Smith of Hartsville, SC and Melinda Price of Columbia, SC; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends; his special friend,  his special cousins: Brian Sweeney of Sumter, SC, Calvin Sweeney and William Sweeney both of Florence, SC; Skyla Price of Society Hill, SC and his best friend, Aubre’ Xavier Eldridge of Darlington, SC.
