Mr. Jackie "JB" McNeil

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Jackie McNeil of Darlington.  Mr. McNeil expired on Wednesday evening, January 8, 2020 in a Florence medical center. 

Funeral service is 1:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Internment will follow in the Round O Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jackie Charles McNeil was born in Darlington County on November 16, 1956 the son of the late Raymond and Jamesina Charles McNeil. He quietly entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence SC.

He received his former education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

Jackie lived his life in both North and South Carolina where he was gainfully employed as a farm hand and various other jobs.

Jackie was known to his family and friends as “JB”.  He played an important role in helping raise his siblings, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed watching old western shows and taking care of his dogs.

He was preceded by his parents; a son: Christopher Carroway; two brothers: Raymond McNeil, Jr. and David McNeil.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: One daughter Trina McNair of Green Sea, South Carolina. Five siblings: Maxine Johnson, Jimmy McNeil, Delores Myers, Bensena “Angie McNeil and Patricia (Fredrick) Baker all of Darlington; One granddaughter: Erykha Johnson also of Green Sea, South Carolina; two aunts: Ophagene  McNeil and Katie Bell Charles; a special friend, Loretta Taylor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for the McNeil family will be held daily from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the residence of a sister and brother-in-law, Patrica and Fredrick Baker, 1106 Oleander Drive, Darlington.
