It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. J.C. Robinson of Orangeburg, SC, formerly of Lamar, SC. Mr. Robinson transitioned peacefully Saturday night, February 27, 2021 in an Orangeburg hospital.
Funeral service is 12 Noon on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Church Yard of New Mount Tabor Community Church, 1017 Rogers Road, Darlington. Interment will follow in the Sandy Grove UMC Cemetery, Lamar. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for these services.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. On Saturday, February 27, 2021, Mr. J. C. Robinson also known as “Cooter”, loving husband of 47 years and father of two children, transitioned from labor to reward at the age 82 at Pruitt Health Orangeburg in Orangeburg, SC.
J. C. was born on February 10, 1939 in Lamar, SC a son of the late Jerome and Elease Dubose Robinson.
He attended Cypress Elementary but got a degree in Life. He worked as a sharecropper on the farm.
On October 17, 1973, he was united in marriage to the former Miss Carolyn Louise Lee. He was blessed with two daughters: Leslie Harvey and Tonya Gleaton.
J. C. had a passion for singing. He also enjoyed exercising, cooking and telling stories about his life. Although blind, he knew his whereabouts and could tell you your exact location …. go figure. He was known for his size, solidly built, standing at 6’3”. One thing anyone could say was he never met a stranger and didn’t mind lending a helping hand.
J. C. was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Robinson; his mother, Elease Robinson and his brother, June Robinson.
His memories will be cherished by: his loving wife, Carolyn Robinson of Orangeburg, SC; his two daughters: Leslie Harvey of Greenville, SC and Tonya (Marlon) Gleaton of Orangeburg, SC; his sister, Pastor Helen Jeffrey of Timmonsville, SC; his two brothers: Alphonso (Christine) Robinson of Darlington, SC and Ulysses (Columbus “Chris”) Reed of Henderson, NC; his long term caregiver (sister-in-law) Jennifer Lee; his eight grandchildren (two of which he helped raised): Nikki Ross and Demetrious Robinson; four great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation is held at the residence of a sister, Pastor Helen Jeffery, 1965 Maple St. Timmonsville.
