Obituary

Heyward Eaddy was born on December 23, 1952 in Darlington, SC to the late LB Eaddy and Rosena Samuel of Darlington, SC. He departed this life on Friday, June 13, 2025 after a brief illness.

Heyward is preceded in death by two siblings, Herbert Lee Samuel (1960-2017), and Debra Ann Samuel Gales (1961-2020).

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Ms. Rosena Samuel of Darlington, SC; three sons, Darrick Wilson (Barbara Wilson, mother) of Sanford, NC, Corey Eaddy (Brooklyn,NY), and Kenyon Eaddy (Timmonsville, SC) (Queen Eaddy, mother); five siblings, Robert (Shirley) Eaddy, Loretta (Harold) Garner, Clarice (Marvin) Ashley, Janice (Calvin) Jacobs, all from Darlington, SC, and Charlene Brown of Rockledge, Florida; eight grandchildren, Xavier (11) and Aria (7) Wilson (Darrick); JaCorey Cornell Eaddy (28), Dazon Lamont Eaddy (24), Koretta Mckoy (24), and Chloe Eaddy (11) (Corey); Taylor Madison Gibson (25), Kinnidi Bacote (17), Kei’mauri Jaden Bacote (15) (Kenyon), and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Affectionately known in the community as a laid back, chill, easy-going guy, Heyward never met a stranger. He knew many people in the community and often had several visitors throughout the week. He enjoyed moments when friends, family, and community members would gather in one place for food, fellowship, and music. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by people he loved.

Heyward enjoyed the simple things: the outdoors, great music, and sports. A devoted Indianapolis Colts fan, he-rarely missed a game on television and kept up with the stats of his favorite team. To know Heyward was to know that sitting outside under a tree, enjoying a nice breeze while playing his favorite old school tunes, was the recipe for a great day. He would sit outside from early in the morning until late in the evening, whether it was winter, spring, summer or fall. The rain didn’t always stop him from going outside; it just meant he would move his location to the front porch.

Heyward enjoyed feeding people from the family garden, especially the elderly and sick. He was a son who adored his mother and looked after her very closely. As the oldest of his siblings, he was a jokester in their younger days and a protector as he got older. As a father, he spoke of his children often and it was apparent that he was proud of the men they all became. As an uncle, he was undoubtedly among the coolest, staying up to date with all the recent trends, music artists, cultural fads and slang. As a friend, he welcomed others to visit and have a seat under the tree.

Heyward was educated in Darlington County School District and went on to work at Chesterfield Lumber Company and in road construction.

Before God called Heyward home, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and redeemer. He departed this Earth a devoted son, a loving father and grandfather, a protective big brother, a laid back uncle, and a generous friend, but most importantly, he departed this life as a believer.

Please keep the family and friends of Mr. Heyward Eaddy in your thoughts and prayers.
