Mr. Herbert William Lowery

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Herbert William Lowery of Darlington.  Mr. Lowery passed on Monday, February 1st, 2021 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness. 

Funeral service is 3:00PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Mt. Rona Baptist Church Cemetery.  Interment will follow. 

Obituary

    Mr. Hebert William Lowery, affectionally known as “H”, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 1, 2021 at McLeod Reginal Medical Center after an extended illness.  Herbert was born in Lee County on December 9, 1954 to the late John W. Lowery Sr. and Geather Hickson Lowery.  

    At a young age, he was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, SC.  “H” was raised in Lynchburg but later moved to Darlington County.  

    Herbert graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and later attended Florence-Darlington Technical College where he received certifications in HVAC, plumbing and electrical. These talents led him to be employed with several companies throughout North and South Carolina.  Herbert was a skilled mechanic; he was often called on by relatives and friends for assistance with needed repairs.  Herbert will be greatly missed by those who knew him.  

    Those left to cherish his memories are: his devoted wife,Marilyn Williamson Lowery of the home; four children: Jarvis (Lakeisha) Eaddy of Beaufort, SC, Nikki Lowery of Columbia, SC, Brian Lowery of Florence, SC and Terrance Lowery of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren, DeJarvis, JaWuan, JarKera, Brian Jr., Laila, Jayden, Charleigh and Anastasia.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Jasmine Edwards.  Six sisters: Janice (Henry) Johnson, Wilma (Russell) Lowery,Barbara Lowery all of Maryland, Shirley Lowery of Kentucky, Florence Cannon of Lynchburg, SC and Harrie Mae (Tim) of Baltimore, MD; three brothers: John W. Lowery Jr (Diane) of Kentucky, Robert Edward (Olean) Hickmon, of Bishopville, SC and Charles Wilson of NC; two brothers-in-law: Elijah (Debbie) Williamson of Darlington, SC and Reginald (Queen) Williamson of Missouri; one sister-in-law, Brenda Williamson of Society Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
