It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Herbert Edmond of Darlington. Mr. Edmond expired on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral service is 2:00pm Saturday, April 17, 2021 in the Lawson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Mr. Herbert Edmond was born February 11, 1932 in St. Matthews, South Carolina a son of the late Elliott Kimptson and Lizzie Edmond. He entered into his final resting place on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his residence.
He received his formal education in the Calhoun County Public Schools.
He made his home in Far Rockaway, New York in the 1950’s. There he met the love of his life the former Miss Georgeanna Benton. They were united in marriage on July 7, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 12, 2013.
Herbert was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist on Rockaway Beach Blvd. in Far Rockaway, NY where Rev. Larry Shell, Sr. was his pastor. He served faithfully where needed.
Herbert lived most of his life in Far Rockaway, NY where he was gainfully employed. After retirement, in 2005, he made his home in Darlington, SC.
He was an exceptional person. Although he was quiet, he was also loving and kind.
Those left to share the joys and sorrows of life with him are: his siblings: James (Mary) Edmond, Johnnie (Bessie Lou) Edmond and Edna P. Jones all of St. Matthews, SC; his one brother-in-law: Joel Benton of Jamaica, New York; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jacobs of Darlington, SC and Mae Edmond of St. Matthews, SC; his god-children: Herbert (Louvenia) Edmond, Amy Jacobs, Brittany Adams, Denish Jones, Herbert Edmond, Jr., Alexis Edmond and Emma G. Chambers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his siblings: Fred Edmond, J. C. Edmond, Sally Kimptson and Mamie Lou Howard, Lottie Edmond and Duke Edmond.
