It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the James family share the transition of Mr. Harry Lee James of Darlington. Mr. James passed on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his residence following an illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 04, 2023 at Christ Temple Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harry Lee James was born on November 22, 1951, a son of the late Mr. Henry and Beulah Brown James in Darlington, South Carolina. Harry peacefully transitioned on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his residence following an illness.
He received his formal education in Darlington County School District. He loved fishing and doing carpentry work. Harry worked various jobs and his last employment was a cashier at Exxon Gas Station off of I-20.
He was united in marriage to Ms. Sylvia Carter James.
To know Harry was to love him. He will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Harry Lee James, Sr. are: his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Carter James of the home; his children: Rosa (Michael) Pooler of Florence, SC, Latonya (Albert) Loredo of Columbia, SC, Harry Lee Van James of Charleston, SC, Kendall Smith of Florence, SC, and Jeffery and Marcus Carter of Darlington; twenty-four grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; siblings: Cornelius (Sherry) James of Darlington and Mary (Joseph) Hollingsworth of Florence, SC; several in-laws; special brothers and sisters-in-law: Terry Carter, Henry Carter, Don Carter, and Maedean Zimmerman, special nephews: Cornelius James, Jr. and Jordan James, a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who mourn his passing.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Mack James, Henry James, Luther James, Elizabeth James, Rosa Lee James, and Calperta James, a grandson, Redric Jackson.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 308 F Avenue, Darlington.
