Mr. Harold Grant, Jr.

It is with heartfelt condolences that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Grant Family announce the transition of Mr. Harold Grant, Jr. Mr. Grant passed on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at his residence with his family at his side. 

Funeral service is 3:00PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Mt. Rona Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery.

    “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  A Life Begins         

    Mr. Harold Grant, Jr. was born in Society Hill, SC on August 20, 1940, the second child of the late Harold Grant, Sr. and Alma Grant.  He entered into enteral rest Wednesday afternoon, August 17, 2022 at his home after an illness. 

    At an early age, he attended and joined Bethesda Baptist Church in Society Hill, SC. He received his education at Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, SC. 

   He met and married Marie, in which they were married for 61 years and blessed with 7 children.

    He was employed at Galey & Lord for over 40 years. After retirement he worked as a crossing guard for many years at Rosenwald Elementary/Middle School in Society Hill, SC. 

    Harold, better known as “Papa”, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family member and friend to all who knew him

    He was preceded in death in addition to his parents: his brothers: Albert Grant, Roy Grant and Marion Grant; his sisters: Geraldine Joseph and Maedee Brown and one sister-in-law,Mary Sanders. He will be missed by his family and friends who dearly loved him. 

    Those who shared the joys of life with him and survive to cherish his memories are: his loving, “Sweet Pea” wife, Marie Grant of the home; his four sons: Maurice Grant, Keith Grant both of Society Hill, SC, Timothy (Tammy) Grant of Florence, SC and Marcus (Latanya) Grant of Bennettsville, SC; his three daughters: Antoinette Grant, Valerie Grant and Tammie Grant all of Society Hill, SC; one grandson he raised as his own,Marcus McPhail of Society Hill, SC; his siblings: Rosalee Gattison, Vermella (Michael) Johnson, Herbert (Joanne) Grant, Jimmy Grant, and Charles (Lila) Grant; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Grant and Mary Sue Grant; two brothers-in-law: Jesse (Doretha) Sanders, Jasper Joseph and Thaddeus Brown; grandchildren: La’Shanta, Shanita, Niesha, La’Toya, Jeremy, Kiki, Tamara, Britney, Makayla, Daijah, Dinisha, Alicia, Jaylen, Brandon, Tae-Tae, Jordan and Tyler; 24 great-grandchildren; two special friends: the Late Leroy Gattison and Henry Issac; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who regret his passing. 

      A Life Ends

Visitation will be held at the residence, 135 Thompson Drive, Society Hill, SC.
