Mr. George Quintel Scipio

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Scipio family sadly announces the sudden death of Mr. George Quintel Scipio. Mr. Scipio passed in Darlington, SC. 

Funeral service is 2:00pm on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Church of Christ- Lamar. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. 

Obituary for George Quintel Scipio

     “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

       To Family, friends and those who closely knew him, George was affectionately known as Quintel, Blakk, Two-Fingers Up, Petey (LL), Dude, Paa, Quokel, and especially Jr. by his father.

    George Quintel Scipio departed this life Sunday, June 4, 2023 after a sudden death. He was born November 7, 1990 in Florence County a son of George Scipio and Kathy Prescott Scipio. .

    He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County where he graduated from Darlington High School Class of 2009.He went on to attend Technical College in Virginia and returned home where he worked various jobs. His last place of employment was Sonoco’s Angleboard of Darlington, SC.

     George was preceded in death by: his loving grandparents: Elizabeth Cotton Scipio, Joseph Scipio, Silas Prescott, Sr, and Fannie Huggins Prescott; his aunts: Thomasena Cotton Peterson, Lula M Prescott Davis and Viola Prescott Dunn: two uncles: David Grant, Jr. and Frank Commander: two great-aunts: Virginia Cotton Alford and Shirley Ann Cotton.

     Those left to cherish his memory are: his father, George Scipio, his mother, Kathy L Prescott Scipio both of Darlington, SC; a brother, Joseph Ke’Shaun Scipio of Darlington, SC; two sisters: Ashleigh Renee Scipio of Darlington, SC and Vanita (Tina) Hilliard of Columbia, SC, seven uncles; six aunts; one great aunt; one great uncle; one great-great uncle; a host of special cousins he spent summers growing up and adored hanging with as adults. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of his parents, 1521 Mystic Pines Drive, Darlington.
