LOCAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Wright family regret to announce the sudden passing of Mr. Garry Kelvin Wright, a resident of Great Mills, Virginia, formerly a resident of Hartford, CT and Darlington, SC. Mr. Wright was the son of Mary Alice Miles McDougald and the late Johnny Elmo Wright and the husband of Nicole Wright. Garry passed unexpected early Monday morning, January 31, 2022 from a sudden illness. He was born in Hartford, CT on February 14, 1962 and raised in surrounding areas. Garry, affectionately known as "G", will be remembered for his deep melodic voice, his infectious laugh and his love of family.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD.
Obituary
Garry was born February 14, 1962 to the late Johnny Elmo Wright and Mary Alice McDougald (Miles). Born in Hartford, CT and raised in surrounding areas, Garry, affectionately known as “G”, will be remembered most for his deep melodic voice, his infectious laugh and his love of family.
Garry belonged to the Windsor High School class of 1980 and shortly after high school, joined the United States Air National Guard as an HVAC technician. For the past 15 years, he was employed by the State of Maryland Department of Environment as a Waterworks and Waste System Operator and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Garry loved sports growing up, and was a well-known bowler in the Hartford community. He was one of the original youth bowlers of the Insurance City Senate of Hartford that began in 1976. He maintained TNBA membership until he passed away, and he is a current member of the Greater Washington Bowling Senate. His love of sports was also represented in his staunch support of the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Along with his beautiful mother, left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his wife Nicole Wright (Glover), and children Ayanna, Quincy, Jalin, Desiree, David, Domonique, Christina, Jessica, and Breyana. He is also survived by his sisters Dearra Milner (Wright), and Arnetta McDougald, as well as a host of grandchildren, a goddaughter, a niece, nephews and cousins. Garry is predeceased by his father, Johnny and special Uncle Alphonso Wright Sr.
Services will be held at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road Leonardtown, MD on February 12, 2022. Family and close friends are welcome to gather between 12-2 PM with a memorial service starting at 2 PM. For those who cannot attend physically, the memorial will also be livestreamed
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. Following service, celebrations will continue at the family home.
