Mr. Ervin "Buster" Brown

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Ervin Brown, also known as Buster and Gummy of Darlington, SC.  Mr. Ervin passed on Friday evening, January 28, 2022 at McLeod Hospice House following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing while at this service.

Obituary

    Mr. Ervin Brown was born September 8, 1957 in Darlington, South Carolina a son of the late Sam Brown, Sr. and Earline Patterson Brown.  He entered into his final resting place on Friday, January 28, 2022 at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from Rosenwald High School Class 1975. 

    He lived all of his life in Darlington where he was gainfully employed at: H. B. Robinson Plant in McBee, Pallet Makers in Darlington, Darlington County School District as a Custodian and also at Oakhaven Nursing Center in Darlington.

    Ervin was united in marriage in 1985 to the late Minister Rose Elouise Sims Brown.  This union was blessed with a daughter, Ebony.

    He was a very caring, loving, selfless person who would help anyone in need. He was a hard worker and was never complained about anything.  Ervin had a great personality and was very big on family. He will be dearly missed by his daughter and mostly of all his granddaughter who he truly loved.

    Those left to cherish his memory are:  his loving daughter, Ebony Brown of Darlington, SC; his granddaughter, Emani Peterson of Darlington, SC; two sisters: Loretta (David) Brown of Society Hill, SC and Ret (1Sg) US Army Sherrie Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; two brothers:  Freddie (Mary Lee) Brown and James Brown both of Darlington, SC; two aunts: Alice Dewitt of Darlington, SC and Mamie Samuel of Woodbine, GA; his nieces and nephews: Chatisha Brown, Antonio McFarland, Antwain Brown, Tiffany Kinney and Frederica Brown; grandnieces: Disha Brown, Monica Brown, Paisley Kinney and Amayah Brown; his brothers-in-law: (SFC) Alfred Sims, II of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jerome Sims of Darlington, SC; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Brown, Jr.; his nephew, Shawn Brown and his brother-in-law, (SFC) Travles Anderson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, 2/3/22 and Friday, 2/4/22 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM at the residence of a daughter, Ebony Brown, 423 Jennifer Lane, Darlington, SC. Please wear a mask to the residence.
