Mr. Edward Scott

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home Inc. and members of the Scott Family share the passing of Mr. Edward Scott of Florence, SC. Mr. Scott passed on Friday, June 3, 2022 in Commander Nursing Facility following an illness. 

Funeral service is 1:00pm on Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

     Mr. Edward Scott was born February 2, 1952 in Darlington, South Carolina the son of the late Lonn Scott, Sr. and Martha Ann Washington Scott.  He entered into his eternal resting place on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Commander Nursing Center, Florence, SC.

     He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1970.

    “Big”, as he was affectionately called, lived all his life in Brooklyn, NY where he was gainfully employed for the City Of New York Public School System.  “Big” loved his family and friends and loved spending time with them often.  He also loved people and could lift your spirits when you were sad.

      He was united in marriage to the late Cassandra Jackson Scott and to this union a son, Adam, was born.  She departed this life on May 19, 2022.

     Those left to cherish his loving memory are: his four sons: Edward (Tara) Scott, Jr. of NC, Bernard Scott of Darlington, SC, Shawn Scott of NY and Adam Scott of Florence, SC; three grandchildren; six siblings:  (his twin) Elliott Scott of NY, Letha (Duffy) Skinner of Florida, Carrie (Truth) Pooler, Julia S. Davis, Lonnie Scott, Jr. (Jackee’ Williams) and Patricia Damon all of Darlington, SC; an aunt, Floretha Washington of Darlington, SC; two uncles: Doug McMillan and Jack Millian both of VA; a step sister, Denise Kenny of Darlington, SC; a brother and sister-in-law, Antwaun Jackson and John R. Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     He was preceded in death by: his sister, Shirley Jean Scott; two nephews: Willie Mouzon and Willis Mouzon.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 613 Southern Pines St., Darlington.
