It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Donald Spann of Darlington. Mr. Spann transitioned on Thursday, August 17, 2023 in a Florence hospital following an illness.
Funeral service is 11:00AM on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Hart No. 2 Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Mr. Donald Spann., better known as “Punkin”, was born in Lee County, South Carolina on June 6th, 1956, a son of the late Izell and Henrietta Williams Spann. He departed this life on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 in MUSC Hospital after an illness.
He attended the Darlington County Public Schools.
“Punkin” worked on the Farm until his health fail. He loved sitting in the back yard under the tree spending time with family. “Punkin” was a loving brother, uncle, and friend, he will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are: one sister, Fannie Mae Spann of Timmonsville, SC; a devoted sister-in-law, Alice Spann of Timmonsville, SC; one nephew, Terry (Tonya) Spann; one niece, Teresa (Darron) Simmons; four grandnieces Jermaise King of Columbia, SC; Jaslyon (Justin) Gonzalez of Fort Drum, NY; Khiarra and Tonia Miles of Florence, SC; one grandnephew Jaylon Fox of Columbia, SC; a great-great grandniece and three great-great grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Izell Spann, Sr., and Henrietta Williams Spann; one sister, Calperta Spann; three brothers: Maxie Lee Spann, Carl Spann and Izell Spann Jr.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 3317 North Sally Hill Road, Timmonsville.
