Mr. Dexter Gregg

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Gregg family announce the passing of Mr. Dexter Gregg of Darlington. Mr. Gregg passed on Monday, January 24, 2022 in McLeod Regional Medical Center following a brief illness

Funeral service is 2:00PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in the Church Yard of New Life Church, Chestnut Street, Darlington. (The church is one block away from the funeral home.) 

Obituary

   “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

    Mr. Dexter Jerome Gregg was born July 30, 1989 inDarlington, South Carolina a son of Ella Mae Gregg and Demetrious McCoy.  He entered into his final resting place on Monday, January 24, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

    He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System.  Dexter was employed at various jobs: C R Jackson, Darlington City Water Department and Darlington Veneer Company.

    Those left to cherish his memory are:  his mother, Ella Mae Gregg; his father, Demetrious McCoy; his daughter, Sicoya Lamariona Gregg; four brothers: Joseph Gregg of Horry County, Antonio Gregg, Brandon Gregg both of Darlington, SC and Demetrious (Monica) McCoy, Jr. of North Carolina; reared like a sister, Yazmeia Gregg; three aunts: Christine Gibson, Ralphine Smith and Sammie Jean (Tommie) McCall; five uncles: Sylvester (Patricia) Gregg, Roman (Andrea) McCoy, Jr., Anthony McCoy, Sr. and Marion Gibson, Jr.; a great uncle, Streeter (Gloria) McCoy; his special friend, Rachel Davis; special cousins: Joey “Pety” Gibson, Daryn “Scootee” Stevenson, Quentin Gibson, Lawrence “L” Scottie, David “Fathead” Scott, Jonathan James, Jamiles James and Anthony McCoy, Jr.; other cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

    He was preceded in death by: a brother, Hayward Gregg.

Visitation will be held at the residence, 409 Parrott Street, Apt. 7, Darlington.
