Mr. Deontez Gerome Nyshon Freeman-Mason

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Deontez Gerome Nyshon Freeman-Mason. Tez as he was affectionally called passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Funeral service is  2:00PM on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in the Betheseda Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Deontez Gerome Nashon Freeman- Mason affectionately known as "Tez" was born on July 13, 2004 in Darlington County, South Carolina, the loving son of Gregory Mason and Erica Freeman. He transitioned from this life to eternal rest on May 18, 2021. 

Deontez received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools. Tez was a very adventurous and inquisitive child. He loved hanging out with his big brother, playing basketball, video games, traveling, family gatherings, and listening to music & dancing. Deontez loved his close family members, extended family and friends. Though he only had a short time here, Tez laughed, cried, smiled & loved throughout his 16 years. His great sense of humor & bright smile will be missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Gregory (Doneisha) Mason and Erica (Tron) Freeman both of Hartsville, SC. His siblings, Shaikeem Freeman-Peterson, Justice Smith, Nevaeh Smith, Kimberly Freeman, Faith Toney, Nehemiah Toney, Charlie Toney, Legacy McFarlin, Aaliyah Mason, Elizabeth Mason, Deyquan Mason, Dygregoryon Mason, Tykeira Mason, Zion Mason, De'aja Peterson, Shaytiana Peterson, Rondrecus Peterson, Jr. and Antwan Peterson; his grandparents: Kendrick & Loretta Harris, Gerome Jackson, Henry Scott and Alice Peterson. His uncles, Jermaine Mason, Tony Mason and Fontay Mason. His aunts, Kimberly (Lee) Small, Monica Mason (Joe), Angela Jackson, Teresa McFarland, LaKisha Freeman, Jessica (Quinn) McGee, Alicia Freeman and Adrienne (Jaquan) Zimmerman, Veronica (Santonio) Peterson and Alexandra Peterson;  a special caregiver/dad, Jarvis Smith; a host of great uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elizabeth Mason, great grandmother, Hester Lee McPhail Freeman, uncle Kelvin Mason, and special father, Rondrecus Peterson.
