It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. David Blackmon of Darlington. Mr. Blackmon expired Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in a Florence hospice house.

Funeral service is 1pm on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Hart #2 Cemetery. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing.

Mr. David Blackmon was born on March 25,1942 in Darlington County a son of the late Willie Blackmon and Edell Danzy. On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 our beloved answered the call of the heavenly Father and transitioned from McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.

Mr. Blackmon was a strong, loving, devoted and hard working man. David loved to work on the farms as a sharecropper at Cecil James Farm. He found interest in fishing, mechanic work and spending time with family and friends. David was loved by everyone that he came across and was highly spoken of by all.

He was preceded in death by: in addition to his mother and father; two brothers: Joe N. Danzy and Tommy Lee Danzy; three sisters: Geneva Harris, Loretta Brown, and Rudell Miller; his late wife, Eva Jean Blackmon and son David Blackmon, Jr.

Surviving to forever cherish his memories are: his wife,Sara Brunson of Darlington, SC who loved him dearly and who stayed by his side tirelessly tending to his love and care; his children: Cameron Blackmon of Darlington, SC, Cathy Blackmon of Florence, SC, Lisa Blackmon (Melvin) Gale, Sheronda Brunson, BarBar Ann (Carl) Williams, Jonnie Gurley all of Darlington, SC and Marcus Brunson of Hartsville, SC; his grandchildren: Sha’Riyah Hicks, Shany’iah Greg, Rachel Gale, Angel Gale, Neco Carrasquillo, Monquelle Carrasquillo, Deveon Carrasquillo, Carla Williams, Alica Williams, Della Johnson, Boretta Johnson, Marcus Brunson, Jr., Devin Brunson and Krystal Brunson; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
