It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Curtis Hunter, Sr. “Curl” as he was affectionately called passed early Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 in a Florence hospice house following an illness.
Funeral service is 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 08, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery.
Obituary
Mr. Curtis Levern Hunter, Sr. better known as Curl was born in Marion, South Carolina on Monday, May 24, 1948, a son of Victoria Hunter and Milford Wright. “Curl” departed on Saturday, December 02, 2023 at McLeod Hospice House following an illness.
Curtis lived all of his life in South Carolina and attended the Public Schools in South Carolina. He loved watching the western shows, being outside, going to the stores, and reading the daily newspaper.
He was employed as an auto body worker and upholstery professional with Wilson and Saunders Auto Body Shop. Curl was later employed as a machine operator at Darlington Veneer.
“Curl” was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. To know he was to love him.
Those left to cherish and remember the life of Mr. Curtis “Curl” Hunter, Sr. are: his wife, Linda Jackson of the home; his children: Curtis Levern (Mary) Hunter, Jr., James “Monkey” Wallace and Gwen Brown; his step-children: Allison Wilds, Marion Jackson, Janice A. Jackson; his siblings: Janie (Johnny, deceased) Waiters, Vadia (Woodrow, deceased) McCall, George (Belver) Hunter, Willen (Milland) Karmaker, and Albert (Cinderella) Hunter; four grandchildren: Christina Shavonne Hunter, Danielle Brown, Daniel Brown and Jacal Brown; a host of other grandchildren; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who regret his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Victoria Hunter and Milford Wright; his son, Jerome Allen Hunter; his step-daughters, Linda and Sheila Jackson; siblings: Alphonso Hunter, Willie Edward and Loretta Cotton.
Visitation for relative and friends is held at the residence of a sister, Mrs. Vadia McCall, 664 Freeman Street, Florence, SC.
