It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Curley McDaniel of Decatur, Georgia, formerly of Darlington, SC. Mr. McDaniel entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in a Georgia hospice facility following an illness.
Funeral service is 12 Noon on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Hart No. 2 Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service.
Obituary
Mr. Curley McDaniel was born July 24,1954 in Darlington, South Carolina, a son of the late Boyd McDaniel, Sr. and Ola Bell McDaniel. He departed his life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Amicasa Home Care, Decatur, Georgia.
After graduating high school, he moved to Paterson, New Jersey. While in New Jersey, he attended a trade technical schooling and became a plumber. He was a plumber for many years until his health declined.
He received his formal education at Lamar High School, Class of 1973. Curley was an outgoing person. He played football, basketball, and drove school bus while attending Lamar High School.
At the young age of thirteen, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Center Baptist Church. There, he was a member of the Boys Scouts Troop.
Curley was loved by many, and he loved his children, grandchildren, and family. He had a smile about him that would brighten the room.
He was united to Tara Williams of Decatur, Georgia.
Preceding him in death along with his parents; a granddaughter, Nadira Withers; a sister, Sally McDaniel; two brothers: Roosevelt Byrd and Joseph McDaniel.
Those left to cherish his memories are: two daughters: CatinaBrown Dease of Darlington, South Carolina and Andrena Kelley of Clinton, Maryland; a son, Curley (Crystal) McDaniel, Jr. of Paterson, New Jersey; five grandchildren: Antonio Williams of MD, Brandon Avant of SC, Najerhea Mitchell of MD, Breana Dease of SC, and NaTavia Kelly of MD; twelve siblings: Evelyn McDaniel of Newark, NJ, Lee Stalk of Charolotte, NC, Theodora McDaniel and Terry McDaniel of Paterson, NJ, Ola Bell Calderon, Boyd (late Mamie) McDaniel, Jr., Leon (Edell) McDaniel, Virginia Holmes Dixon, all of Darlington, SC, Odessa (Harry) Pauling of Orangeburg, SC, Victoria (James) Beard of Timmonsville, SC, James (Sara) McDaniel and Robert McDaniel, both of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
