It is with heartfelt sympathy that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Corey Hudson, 39, of Darlington. Mr. Hudson transitioned suddenly on Tuesday night, September 15, 2020 in a Florence hospital.
Graveside service is 1:00pm on Sunday, September 20, 2020 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Mask wearing and social distancing is required.

“It is sometimes hard to understand why these things have to be. Our sad hearts seek the answer, but it’s not for us to see— We can only trust in God and know that in some way, it’s all a part of His great plan— We’ll understand some day.
Mr. Corey Maurice Hudson was born in Darlington, South Carolina on December 28, 1980 a son of Martha Ann Dupree Hudson and the late Coleman Bull. He departed this life at an early age and entered into his eternal rest on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.
Early in life, Corey joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Corey received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Darlington High School Class of 1999. While in high school, Corey loved basketball and football and even occasionally, he would still play basketball.
Corey was employed at Dixie Cup for 15 years and presently employed with General Electric “GE”. He was a hard worker and loved what he was doing.
On September 12, 2020, Corey was united in holy matrimony to the former Miss Bridget L. Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Bridget Johnson; his mother, Martha Ann Hudson; one son, Jalen Corey Hudson; one step-son, Steffan Johnson; two sisters: Jonie Renee Hudson and Janice Ann Smith; two nephews: Isaiah Smith and Isaac Smith; one great nephew, Isaiah Smith, Jr.; one special niece he loved dearly, Khira Smith; his mother-in-law, Leslie H. Ford; his father-in-law, Lawrence Williams; two brothers-in-law: John Hannah and Derrick (Ayanna) Williams; his god-mother, Marie Deas; his god-daughter, Ryan Bess; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at 138 E. Wine Street, Darlington.
