With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the McCoy family announce the transition of Mr. Clarence “George” McCoy, Jr., of Darlington, SC. Mr. McCoy passed away the morning of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC, after an illness.
Visitation for the McCoy family will be held at the residence, 1720 Elissa Drive, Darlington, SC.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM noon, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 1369 Society Hill Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Clarence McCoy was born December 7, 1939, in Darlington, South Carolina, a son of the late Clarence McCoy, Sr., and Amanda Graham McCoy Miles. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC, after a brief illness.
“George”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.
At an early age, he joined Mt. Sinai Holiness Church with his family.
He was employed in agriculture by Benton Farms for 30-plus years, and from there, he proceeded to Woodard Farm where he worked until he retired.
Clarence was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Theresa Johnson McCoy in 1962, and to this union, they were blessed with five children.
“George” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are: four children: Clifford (Linda) McCoy of Darlington, SC, Jessie M. McCoy of the home, Clarence (Tiffany) McCoy, Jr., of Florence, SC, and Charles McCoy of the home; eight grandchildren: Tiesha McCoy, Christopher (Jasmine) White, Anthony White, Jataz McCoy, Azarhara DeWitt, Ty’shawn DeWitt, Chase McCoy, and Logan McCoy; three great grandchildren: Serenity McCallum, Tahlia Hunter, and Uri White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who regret his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; his wife; and son, Anthony Johnson.
