It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the James and Waiters families announce the transition of Mr. Clarence Dave James of Florence. Mr. James exchanged time for eternity on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Faith Healthcare Center, Florence, SC, following an illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Christine Waiters James.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Majority Baptist Church, 414 N. Coit St., in Florence, SC. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd, in Darlington, SC.

Mr. Clarence Dave James was born August 15,1940, in Florence, SC, the baby of seven children to the late Robert James, Sr., and Maria Daniels James. He peacefully entered into his final resting place on Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, at Faith Healthcare Center, Florence, SC, following an illness.
He received his formal education in the Florence County Public Schools and was employed with CSX Railroad for many years.
Clarence was a member of Majority Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as an Usher.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 44 years, Christine Waiters James of the home; ten children: Cynthia Johnson, Wanda Mouzon, Elizabeth James, Clarence (Toykia) James, Tanya Burgess, Nichole Burgess, Travis James, Trey (Tasha) Hudley, Roger (Betty) Waiters, and Robert Waiters; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; four special nieces: Diane Wright, Polly Sheppard, Frances Dicker, and Joenitra Cannon; sisters and brothers-in-law: Rosa Lee Waiters, Lonzenia (Willie) Graham, Willie Mae Alexander, Romella Green, and Joseph (Harriet) Waiters; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents: his six siblings: Alice James, Sallie Mae Wilson, Ethel Mae Harrison, Edward Daniels, Arthur James, and Robert James, Jr.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 700 E. Maxwell Street, Florence.
