It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Christopher Michael Damon of Charlotte, NC, formally of Darlington, SC. Mr. Damon passed on Monday, November 1, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. 

Funeral service is 1:00PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Lawson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service. 

Obituary

     Mr. Christopher Michael Damon, Sr. was born September 20, 1972 in Darlington, SC a son of Hanser Brown, Sr. and Magdalen Damon Brown.  He departed this life on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC,

     During his early childhood Chris attended Westside Temple Holiness Church as a child with his mother and siblings and was a member of the choir. He attended St. John High School Class of 1991. He worked at Campbell Soup in Charlotte, NC as a machine operator.  Chris and his siblings spent a lot of time at their grandparents house with his cousins during his younger days. He was the oldest grandchild to his paternal grandparents and as a child his Grandfather Peanut gave him the nickname "Pete".

     Chris was preceded in death by paternal grandparents: Hansel "Peanut" Brown, Sr. & Louise "Biggie" Flemming Brown; maternal grandparents: Ollie Damon & Eva Mae "Coot" Dolford Damon; a brother, Jonathan J. “Johnny” Brown.

     Those left to survive his memory are: his mother, Magdalene Damon Brown of Charlotte, NC; his father, Hanser Brown, Sr. of Greenwood, SC; his siblings: Shon Brown. Sr. (Renee), Anthony Brown, Sr. both of Charlotte, NC and Kea "Nichole" Brown Hallman (Charles) of Chesterfield, VA; his children: Daquan D. James (Precious) of Florence, SC, Chantwan Damon of Mannheim, Germany, Christopher Damon, Jr., Montrell A. Bacote, and Kry'shia Damon all of Darlington, SC; his grandchildren: Londyn James, Paris James both of Florence, SC, Nyla James and Amina Pingfoon both of Darlington, SC; one step-grandson, Mahkai Eaddy of Florence, SC; three aunts: Roina Love of Charlotte, NC, Mary Ridges and Veronica Zimmerman (Calvin) both of Darlington, SC; five uncles: Edward (Elaine) Damon, Harold Brown, Darrick Campbell (Liz) all of Darlington, SC, Bernard Brown of Cary, NC and Terry Brown of Prince George, VA; great aunts: Marie Josey (Cleveland) of Merritt Island, FL, Carolyn Washington of Florence, SC, Mary Robbins of Bronx, NY, Helen Damon and Dorothy Hood both of Darlington, SC; nephews and nieces: Shondavia Mcphail, Shon Brown, Jr., Airrion "Chopper” Brown, Zjamere Brown, Anthony Brown, Jr. and Antwan Brown; three grand-nephews: Devin K.Taylor, Nova A.Gray and Kingsley E. Howie; a host of Cousins that loved him dearly; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Elaine Damon, 120 Coker Street, Darlington.
