Mr. Charlie Scipio

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Scipio family announce the passing of Mr. Charlie Scipio.  Mr. Scipio exchanged time for eternity at his residence following an illness. 

Funeral service is 2:00pm on Thursday, June 08, 2023 at Faith Memorial Gardens with Bishop E.R. Graham, officiating. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

     “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

    Mr. Charlie Scipio, Jr. was born in Darlington, South Carolina on June 22, 1950, a son of the late Charlie Scipio, Sr.and the late Irene Jeffrey Scipio. He entered into his final resting place on Sunday, June 04, 2023 at his residence. 

   He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System. As a young man, Charlie started working at Union Carbine and worked there for several years. 

    Charlie was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, family member and friend that kept it straight. 

    Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Charlie Scipio, Jr.are: one son, James (Tabitha) Scipio of Darlington, SC; two daughters: Linda (Warley) Scipio of Hartsville, SC and Shalonda Haynes; one step-son, Anthony Scipio of Darlington, SC; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a special step-mother, Modestine Scipio of Darlington, SC; three sisters: Janette Scipio of Darlington, SC,  Shirley (Sammy) Tucker of Raleigh, NC and Charlena Dobson of Darlington, SC; three brothers: Benjamin Damon of Darlington, SC, Bobby (Shontell) Scipio of Lamar, SC and Willie Scipio of Lamar, SC; a host of nieces. nephews, cousins and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie, Sr. and Irene Jeffrey Scipio. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, James "Bobo" and Tabitha Scipio, 2068 Philadelphia Street, Darlington, SC.
