It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Carl Ray Joe of Darlington.  Mr. Joe passed on Monday, May 24, 2021 in McLeod Hospice House. 

Funeral service is 11:00AM on Friday, May 28, 2021 in the Cemetery of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

     “For now I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”                        II Timothy 4:6-8

     Mr. Carl Ray Joe was born in Darlington, South Carolina on January 4, 1959 a son of Ida Lee Dicky Joe and the late Lucius Joe, Sr.  He departed this life on Monday, May 24, 2021 after an illness at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.

     Carl Ray received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

     He was a member of Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Lloyd E. Swaringer, Sr. and was baptized at an early age.

    He was united in marriage to the late Ernestine Gregg Sanders Joe on October 3, 2003.

    He was employed at Darlington Veneer Company.

    Carl Ray was preceded in death by his father, Lucius Joe, Sr. and his wife, Ernestine Joe.

   He leaves to cherish his memory:  his mother, Ida Lee Joe of Florence, SC; one brother, Lucius Joe, Jr. of Florence, SC; three sisters: Rosa Lee (Walter) Gibson of Florence, SC Angelnette Johnson and Mary (Cornelius) Felder both of Darlington, SC; his step-daughter, Lisa (Bobby) Foster of Florence, SC; two step-sons, Terry (Laura) Sanders and Michael (Amanda) Sanders; several grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Sylvester Gregg, sisters-in-law: Ella Mae Gregg and Christine Gregg; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
