Mr. Calvin "Bobby" Thomas

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Thomas family announce the passing of Mr. Calvin "Bobby" Thomas of Darlington, SC, on Monday, June 2, 2025. 

The family will be receiving friends at the residence, 624 Red Tip Lane, Darlington, SC. 

Public viewing will be 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC. 

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM noon, Monday, June 9, 2025, at Darlington Middle School, 150 Pinedale Dr, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow at Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Auburn School Road, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

Mr. Calvin Thomas was born in Darlington, South Carolina on July 20, 1969, a son of the late Robert Thomas Sr. and Fannie Mae Harkless Thomas. He entered into his eternal rest on Monday morning, June 2, 2025 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C.

He received his formal education in the Darlington County public schools.

Mr. Calvin career started at Sun Beam Industries for 17 years, and Remelt Sources Inc. for 18 years. He was an enthusiastic fisherman, dedicated gardener and his best love was grilling and making that once in a lifetime barbeque sauce in which no one could ask the ingredients. Calvin also loved spending time with his kids, family and friends. Early in life he joined Cherry Grove Baptist Church.

He was a loving father, brother, nephew and family member. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Calvin was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Thomas Jr, Jimmy Lee Thomas and Monty Lamont Thomas and a sister, Linda T. O’Neal.

Those left to cherish his memory are: a loving and devoted wife, Dena Parker Thomas; two sons: Calvin Thomas Jr. (Petty Officer 1st Class, San Diego, California) and Jeremy Parker Thomas of Darlington, SC; one precious daughter, Leah Montral Thomas of Florence, S.C.; two sisters: Rosemary Dent of Hinesville, Ga. and Mrs. Kathleen Hinton (Edward) of Columbus, Ga.; three brothers: Mr. Freddie (Shirley) Thomas, Mr. James Edward (Yvonne) Thomas, and Mr. Tommy Lee Thomas all of Darlington, S.C.; a beloved mother-in-law, Barbara Parker of Cheraw, SC; a sister-in-law, Felicia Parker of Cheraw, SC; a special nephew, Roanell “Tony” Thomas (Avis) of Tampa, Florida; two aunts: Mary B. Rubin (Ben) of Darlington, SC and Bertha Snipes of Baltimore Maryland; two uncles, Rufus Harkless (Wyoming) and Joseph Bull of Florence, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and we can’t forget St John High School Class of 1987 who regret his passing and love him dearly.
