With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the McCullough family announce the passing of Mr. Bryan McCullough of Lamar, SC. Mr. McCullough transitioned peacefully at home with his relatives by his side after an illness.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Mary Burgess, 116 Seven Bridges Road, Lamar, SC.
Public viewing will be held 12:00 - 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.
Funeral service will be 3:30 PM, Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Bethany Baptist Church, 205 W Pearl St, Lamar, SC. Interment will follow in Plaza Memorial Cemetery, Plaza Rd, Lamar, SC.

Mr. Bryan Christopher McCullough, affectionately known as “Pookie” was the son of Maryann McCullough Burgess and Jimmie Dean Simon. He peacefully entered his eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Bryan was born and raised in Lamar, South Carolina where he received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System, graduating from Lamar High School Class of 2001. At an early age, he attended Bethany Baptist Church and participated on the Youth Usher Board and on the Youth Choir.
In October 2001, Bryan enlisted in the United States Marines Corp, serving his Country until 2003, after which he returned home. He furthered his education by enrolling in Job Corp and earning a plumbing certification.
In 2007, Pookie relocated to Newton, North Carolina, where he met and married Sharbrina Lashae Sifford. While there, he was a dedicated member of Bibleway Church #7.
Upon returning to South Carolina, Bryan became a devoted associate at Florence Toyota, finding joy in detailing cars until his health began to decline.
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Bryan rededicated his life to the Lord and rejoined Bethany Baptist Church.
Bryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jasper and Julia McCullough; his paternal grandparents, Charlton Dukes Jr. and Carrie Bell Simon; his father-in-law, Raymond Sifford; his bonus father, John Robinson; his sister, Shavon Simon; a bonus brother, Almonty Daniels; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Shabrina Lashae McCullough; his son, Elijah Christopher McCullough; a bonus daughter, Oveon Sifford of Atlanta, Georgia; his parents, Mary (Henry) Burgess of Lamar, SC, and Jimmie Dean Simon of Timmonsville, SC; a sister, Miranda Robinson of Lamar, SC; a god sister, Shaquetta Boston; four god brothers, Kristopher Dargan of Florence, SC, Quan Brown of Florence, SC, Martino Brown of Darlington, SC, and Nigel Quillen of Lamar, SC; his godmother, Lisa Hughes of Florence, SC; his mother-in-law, Pastor Annie Elizabeth Sifford; one sister-in-law, Marian (John) Dillingham; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Sifford and Ishmael Sifford, all of Newton, NC; nine aunts: Alice Spann, Lillian McCullough, Elder Virginia Robinson, Carolyn McCullough, Ann Harrell, Hattie McCullough, Corine McCullough, Deloris McCullough, and Dr. Mary Timmons; eleven uncles: Ronald McCullough, James McCullough, William McCullough, Larry McCullough, Chester McCullough, Jasper McCullough, Jimmie McCullough, Eddie Robinson, Frank Simon, Jackie Hughes, and Willie Harrell; and a host of other relatives and friends who deeply loved him.
