It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing or Mr. Bruce Ervin Bacote of Lamar, SC. Mr. Bacote passed on Monday, April 24, 2023 at his residence following an illness.
Funeral service is 2:00PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Powerhouse Faith Ministry, Lamar. Interment will follow in Plaza Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Bruce Ervin Bacote was born in Darlington, South Carolina on September 17, 1963, a son of the late James Bacote and Ethel Mae Allen Bacote. He departed his earthly life Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home in Lamar, SC after an illness.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where he attended Rosenwald High School, Society Hill.
Bruce was loved by his family and friends and he loved everyone that he came in contact with. He loved having a good time and was the center of attention. Some of his favorite phrases were: “What a guy!”, “If you don’t know, you better ask ‘sumbody’!”
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 23 years, Barbara Ann Anderson Bacote of the home; his brother, Odell (Lisa) Bacote; two sisters: Sandra Bacote and Valarie Lunn; two step children: Tammy (Kirby) Woodham and Sharine Robinson; thirteen grandchildren: Grace Benbow, Jemea McZeke, Shaimon Staggers (GeGe), Yasmin Luckey, Missie Dukes, Dontrez Robinson, Rasheeda Gilmore, Heaven Gilmore, Celeste S. Woodham, Frederick Crosby, Trinity Woodham, Charles Campbell and Carisma Campbell; eight great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law: Dorothy White, Minnie Price, Ellinor Jones, Rosa Lee Jennings and Mary Durant; two very special friends: Lisa Gibson and Teresa Wade; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Bartina “Pookie” Robinson and a sister, Mary Thomasina Brown.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence, 219 Charlotte Avenue, Lamar, SC.
