It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Braley "June" Curtis, Jr. of Darlington, SC.  Mr. Curtis passed on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Medical University of South Carolina Health, Florence Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Funeral service is 4:00pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Road, Darlington. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing for this service. 


Obituary

     Mr. Braley “June” Curtis, Jr. was born June 1, 1953 in Darlington, South Carolina a son of the late Reverend Braley Curtis, Sr. and Viola Davis Curtis.  He departed this life on Friday, February 25, 2022 in MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
     He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating  from Mayo High School Class of 1971.  He furthered his education at Florence-Darlington Technical College. 
     He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
    Braley lived all his life in Darlington County where he was gainfully employed at Darlington  Veneer Plant (Ramsey Mill), a mechanic at June Hunter’s Exxon Station, Thomas & Howard Food Distribution, Dupont Industries where he later retired.  “June” also was owner and operator  of his own business, Braley’s Automotive for more than 45 years.  He was also employed with Brown’s Memorial.
   He was united in marriage to Bessie M. Scipio Curtis and to this union three sons were born.
   He was preceded in death in addition to his parents: three siblings:: Julia Curtis, Moses Curtis and William Ellison.
   Those left to cherish his memory are:  three sons:  Kenwith Curtis, Michael Curtis and Corey Curtis; one sister, Sadie Curtis; two brothers: Jerry Curtis and Elijah (Carol) Curtis; four grandchildren: Kaijuana M. Curtis, Shinobia Curtis, Delante Curtis and Amaya Curtis; four nephews; seven nieces; twelve great nieces; eight great nephews; a special friend, Patricia White.

Visitation is held at the residence of a sister, Sadie Curtis, 145 Kirven Street, Darlington.
