Mr. Bobby Eugene Primes

With heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Primes and Williams families announce the passing of Mr. Bobby Eugene Primes. Mr. Primes transitioned peacefully in his sleep Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Southland Nursing Home in Florence, SC.

Visitation with family and friends will be held daily 1:00 PM-6:00 PM at 208 April Dr, Darlington, SC.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1372 Pocket Rd, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Obituary

         “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”                                                                                                                  Revelation 21:4

     Mr. Bobby Eugene Primes was born in Bishopville, SC on September 29, 1936 a son of the late Jimmy Primes and Lottie Toney Primes.  He entered into his final resting place on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Southland Healthcare Center, Florence, SC.

     He received his formal education in the Lee County Public School System.  He was employed at Burlington Manufacturing Company and later was employed at Darlington Veneer Company for more than 25 years until he retired.

     Bobby was a member of Pentecostal Temple Holiness Church in Elliott, SC and later joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was a faithful member.

     He was preceded in death by:  his parents: Jimmy and Lottie Primes; two daughters:  Yvette Primes and Jessie B. Scott; two sons: Steve Primes and Stanley Primes; four brothers: Robert, Albert, George and Joseph; four sisters:  Annie Mae Wilson, Margaret Crayton, Martha Mansfield and Easter Glass.

     Those left to cherish his memory are:  his companion of 33 years, Mary Agnes Williams and her daughter, Angelia Thomas; five daughters:  Barbara McCullum (Willie) Sowell of Brooklyn, NY, Olean Blyther of Sumter, SC, Susie (William) Conyers of Savannah, GA, Patricia (Walter) Lucas of Bishopville, SC and Betty Jean Primes of Lynchburg, SC; three sons:  Jimmy Primes of Elliott, SC, Bobby Rydall (Sharon) Primes of Lynchburg, SC and Tyrone (Kim) Primes of Maysville, SC; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Mungin of Elliott, SC; three daughters-in-law: Rebecca A. Primes, Linda Primes and Evonne Young; special niece and nephew who was his loyal caregivers:  Karla Williams and Kenneth Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
