It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Allen "PETE" McCullough of Lamar, SC.  Mr. McCullough died on Monday, May 13, 2019 in a Florence medical facility. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 12 Noon at Bethany Baptist Church, Lamar.  Burial will follow in the Plaza Memorial Gardens, Lamar.

 A Time To Be Born

Mr. Allen Pete McCullough, the son of the late Jasper and Julia Bennett McCullough was born on March 14, 1950 in Darlington County.

A Time To Grow

Mr. Allen Pete McCullough grew up in the Town of Lamar, SC.  He was the fourth child out of sixteen children.  He received his education in the Darlington County Public School.  He was employed at the Egg & I Farm in Lamar, SC for many years until he retired.

A Time To Love

On June 16, 1978, he met and married the love of his life, his Queen, Deloris Simon McCullough for forty years and to this union they were blessed with four sons: Maurice (Robbin) Simon of Atlanta, GA, Joyel (Ann) Simon of Lamar, SC, Allen Antoine (Annie Jessica) McCullough of Florence, SC and Kelly McCullough of Lamar, SC; a host of grandchildren.  Pete was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.  Pete loved life and he loved people, he loved going to football games and he loved them Red Skin.  Pete will be miss by so many family members and friends.

A Time To Worship

Mr. Allen Pete McCullough was a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Lamar, SC where he served on the Bethany Inspirational Choir, Bethany Men Choir and later he was chosen to serve on the Trustee Board.  He loved his church and was always willing to help out in any way he could.  He was faithful in every thing he did.  He also served as a Parking Lot Attendant.

A Time To Mourn

On Monday, May 13, 2019, God summoned His Angel to bring Mr. Allen Pete McCullough home, knowing that he was ready for his Heavenly home that’s not made by man’s hands.

A Time To Count Blessings

Mr. Allen Pete McCullough leave behind to cherish his memory besides his wife, children and grandchildren; 4 sisters:  Alice Spann, Evangelist Virginia (Eddie) Robinson both of Timmonsville, Mary Ann (Henry) Burgess of Lamar and Margie Lisa (Jackie) Hughes of Florence; 8 brothers:  Willie McCullough, Jasper  McCullough, Jr., Jimmy McCullough all of Boston, MA, Larry (Corine) McCullough, Chester (Mae Ester) McCullough both of Lamar, James (Hattie) McCullough of Lynchburg,  William McCullough and Ronald (Lillian) McCullough both of Timmonsville; 7 sisters-in-law: Carolyn McCullough, Annie Mae Jackson, Marie Jackson, Margarie Simon, Mary Lee Simon, Sarah Ann Simon and Inez Simon; 3 brothers-in-law:  Willie (Tillie) Simon, Louis Simon and Nathaniel Simon; 2 aunts; one uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close relatives, friends.   

He was preceded in death by his father and mother:  Jasper and Julia McCullough; 3 brothers:  Sylvester McCullough, Jerome McCullough and Donald McCullough; 3 nieces:  Shavon Simon, Candis McCullough and Ashley Nicole Wilson.

Visitation for the McCullough Family will be at the residence, 725 East Lynches River Road, Lamar.
