It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Alfred Dunham of Darlington. Mr. Dunham transitioned on Monday, August 24, 2020 in a Florence hospital.
Funeral service is 1:00pm on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing.
Obituary
Mr. Alfred Dunham was born in Gresham, South Carolina a son of the late Mack Roy Dunham and Clara Hilton Dunham. He entered into his final resting place on Monday, August 24, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from Mayo High School Class of 1973.
Alfred was employed at the Darlington County Sheriff Department as a Deputy Sheriff was many years. Later, he made his home in Monroe, NC and was employed at Tyson Foods.
Alfred love motor cycles and race cars of which he won numerous Trophies in races. He also loved to fish, cook on the grill and just being around family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mack Roy and Clara Dunham; a daughter, Tina Renae Dunham; a brother, Maxie Dunham and a sister, Ethel Dunham.
Those left to cherish his memories are: his children: Deborah Dunham of Nutley, NJ and Cameron McKenzie of Pageland, SC; three sisters: Ella Dewitt, Queenie (Alfred) Green and Wanda Thomas all of Darlington, SC; three brothers: Johnny Dunham, Joseph Dunham both of Darlington and Mack Dunham, Jr. of Missouri; two aunts: Bertha Dunham of Gresham, SC and Sadie Mack of Charleston, SC; Special nieces and nephew: Vanessa Dunham, Crystal Dunham and Matthew Dunham; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
“Sometimes it’s hard to understand why some things have to be, but in His wisdom, God has planned beyond our power to see. So looking back in tenderness along the road we trod. We cherish the years we had with you and leave the rest to God.”
