Mr. Albert Williamson

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Albert Williamson of Darlington. Mr. Williamson expired on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at his residence following an illness.

Funeral service is 2:00pm on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow. Please adhere to social distancing and mask wearing.

Obituary

Mr. Albert Williamson, Sr. was born in Darlington County, South Carolina on May 24, 1937 a son of the late Albertus “Pat” Williamson and Maggie McKay Williamson. He departed this life on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 at his home after an illness.

Albert Sr. received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

At a young age, Albert attended Round-O Baptist Church and Flat Creek Baptist Church.

Albert Sr. was employed by Chesterfield Lumber Company for several years. He was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, the late Mary Lee Johnson Williamson, in 1962. To this union, they were blessed with eight children.

Albert Sr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. To know him was to love him.

Those left to cherish his loving legacy are his eight children: Leroy (Vanessa) Johnson of Florence, SC, Willie (Virginia) Johnson of Lamar, SC,  Albert (Clarissa) Williamson Jr. of Long Island, NY, Leo Williamson, Terri (Monroe) King, Mary Louise Williamson, Damon Williamson, Sr. all of Darlington, SC and David (Brenda) Williamson of Charlotte, NC; two brothers: Albertus Williamson of Asheville, NC and Charles Williamson of Society Hill, SC; one sister, Mattie Bussey of Philadelphia, PA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 10 sisters-in-law: Mamie E. Williamson of Darlington, SC; Arlena Simons, Hazel Simons, Gail Johnson, Joanna Johnson, Brenda Johnson, Loretta Johnson; all of NY, Clarissa Gilchrist, Ernestine McCoy, and Geraldine McDiall all of Dunn, NC; four brothers-in-law: Tony Johnson of NY, Curt Jones of Dunn, NC and Ceaser Johnson of Philadelphia, PA. and Clarence McCoy of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four brothers: Walter Williamson, Lott Williamson, Leo Williamson and Edward Williamson;  four sisters: Almetta Lovett, Hattie McNeil, Clara Edwards and Elnora Holsey.

Visitation for relatives and relatives will be held at the residence, 121 Kennedy Street, Darlington.
