It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Waiters family share the passing of Mr. Abraham Waiters of Darlington. Mr. Abraham Waiters, affectionately known as "Ham,” transitioned peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at a rehabilitation facility in Columbia, SC, following an illness.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:30 AM in the Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., Chapel, 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens on Rogers Rd, Darlington, SC.
"Life's Reflection"
Mr. Abraham Waiters was born on January 7, 1955, in Darlington County, SC, a son of the late Alton James and the late Louise Coe Waiters. He peacefully entered his final resting place on the morning of Friday, April 19, 2024, at Opus Rehabilitation Home, West Columbia, SC.
Abraham received his formal education in Darlington County Public Schools and he was employed with Dewitt Farm in Darlington, SC, for many years.
Survivors left to cherish his beautiful memory are two daughters: Londell (William) Johnson and Kathleen Waiters, both of Darlington, SC; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five sisters: Romella Green of Timmonsville, SC, Rosa Lee Waiters of Darlington, SC, Christine (Clarence) James of Florence, SC, Lonzina (Willie) Graham of Florence, SC, and Willie Mae Alexander of Baltimore, MD; one brother: Joseph (Harriett) Waiters of Florence, SC; a special aunt who help rear him, Evangelist Melissia C. Cannon; a nephew and special niece: Roger Waiters and Betty Hamlin-Waiters of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; a sweetheart: Betty Jo McCall of Darlington, SC; and special friends, Gladys Ray and Dianna Brown, both of Darlington, SC.
Abraham was preceded in death by three sisters: Mazarine Waiters Jones, Arlena Garner-Hitter, and Carrie Waiters Mumford; and six brothers: Calvin Waiters, Eugene Waiters, James Waiters, Willie Lee Waiters, Jessie Waiters, and Alonza Lee Waiters.
