Life’s Reflections

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness judge, shall give at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.”                                                        2nd Timothy 4:7-8 KJV.

Mrs. Minnie Lee Blathers George was born Lamar, SC (EnochHill, Cypress Community) on June 8, 1923, a daughter of the late Rosa Blathers and Jessie Alford. She entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, SC.

She received her education in the Lee County Public Schools. At an early age, she excepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Sandy Grove United Methodist Church. After marriage, she joined Savannah Grove A.M.E. Church. She faithfully served on the Fannie Fox Missionary Society, Senior Choir and Stewardess Board until her health declined. She loved her church dearly and considered all the members to be her children. She is highly honored to be the mother of Savannah Grove. She never had a Pastor that she could not form a relationship. That relationship remain in place throughout her life.

Mrs. Minnie Lee was joined in holy matrimony to Alton George, Sr. on November 23, 1939, and were married for 62 years when he passed. This union was blessed with 13 children. God allowed her to see 5 generations.

She lived most of her adult life in Windham town and NewmanSwamp Communities. In 2013 due to declining health, she moved to Florence and later to Darlington in 2016. She knew the true meaningof servanthood, as demonstrated by nurturing her children, grandchildren, great grand and all children that were left in her care. Caring for the sick and consoling the bereaved. She loved bakingcakes, pies, gardening, fishing, and working on the farm. Working with numbers was one of her greatest and unique attributes.

Mrs. Minnie Lee had an impressive memory and up to the age of 100 years, she could still recite stories of her childhood, as manyother events that she knew. She always wishes the best for everyone and considered it important to remember birthdays and phone numbers.

Mrs. Minnie Lee was a God-fearing woman who preserved and was loyal, courageous, peaceful, hardworking, resilience, and faith. She taught many life lessons, not only to her family, but to everyone she encountered. She enjoyed a good laugh, good TV (Westerns, Columbo, Wheel of fortune & Jeopardy were her favorites) She was the proud matriarch of her family. Having her family gathering around was her greatest joy.
