Obituary
Mrs. Linda “Hattie Mae” Wormley was born in Darlington, SC, to the late Lottie Mae Moses and Harold J. Kelly. She departed this world on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following a sudden illness and will truly be missed.
Hattie Mae was educated in the Darlington County Public School system. After she graduated high school, she worked several years in the hospitals caring for others as well as doing what she loved (cooking) at various establishments as a cook.
Hattie Mae became disabled at an early age due to an accident, yet she lived the remainder of her life serving God as a mother, Missionary of the church, and blessing to others. She was always cooking and praying for her family and others in the community and visiting those in need.
Hattie Mae’s favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving. She was known for her sweet potato pie and chicken salad. Her favorite saying was, “This is me.” Saying what she meant was one of the many things that others will love and remember about her with laughter. If she liked you, you knew it. And if she didn’t, you knew it.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Lottie Mae Moses; father, Harold J. Kelly; sisters: Queen Esther Davis, Dorothy Brown, Charlie Mae Dewitt, and Thomasina Gregory.
Those left to cherish her precious memory are her devoted daughter, Makena Wormley of Delaware, her two grandsons: Jahlil Johnson-Wormley and Saleem Wormley, both of Delaware; special son/nephew, Willie “Shaq” Moses; three sisters: Pastor Caldonia Lyde, Missionary Kathy Nettles, and Patricia Moses; and a host of nieces and nephews.
