Mother Annie Ruth Shirer Enoch

It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the peaceful transition of Mother Annie Ruth Enoch of Darlington. Mother Enoch transitioned early Monday morning, February 22, 2021 in MUSC- Marion following an extended illness. 

Funeral service is 12 noon on Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. Please adhere to mask wearing and social distancing for this service. 

"OBITUARY"

Mrs. Annie Ruth Shirer Enoch was born in Calhoun County in St. Matthews, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Charles and Isabelle Jackson Shirer on July 31, 1936.  She transitioned from her earthy life on Monday, February 22, 2021 in Medical University of South Carolina- Marion following an extended illness.

Annie Ruth attended the public schools of Calhoun County and attended John Ford High School. Years later, Annie Ruth received her GED.  After high school, she migrated to New York City for a better life and met the love of her life, Mr. Leroy Enoch. Annie and Leroy were joined into holy matrimony on February 6, 1965 and this union was blessed with four sons.

In 1978, the Enochs returned back to South Carolina.  Annie Ruth was gainfully employed as an assembly worker at Nitronics and retired after over 20 years of service. 

Mother Annie Ruth was a faithfully member of the Tabernacle Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Charlie L. Johnson.  She actively served as a Deaconess and one of the mothers of the church.  Mother Enoch worshipped there until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, family member and friend.  Her presence will be missed by her family and friends; to know Annie Ruth was to love her.  She was a quiet spirit person.

Those left to cherish the precious memories of Mother Annie Ruth are: her four loving sons: Gary (Andrea) Bell, Derek Enoch both of Florence, SC, Andre (Noelle) Enoch of Irmo, SC, and Sean Enoch of Darlington, SC; her eight grandchildren: Ebone Clark, Stephanie Bell, Joshua Poole, Andre J. (Paige) Enoch, Christen J. Enoch, Kaneesha Wilson, Dedrianna Enoch, and Shondrea Enoch; six great grandchildren: Vincent Enoch, Wannya Bell, Derrick Lowery, Deondre Lowery, Gabriel Bell, and Gavin Bell; her brother, Melvin (Sherry) Shirer of St. Matthews, SC; three sisters-in-law: Lizzie Lassiter, Mary Lee Enoch, and Fannie Mae Enoch, all of Durham, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Naomi Washington, her brothers, Willie Clay “Bubba” Jackson and Harold Jerome Shirer.
