Mother Annie Mariah "DooDa" Boston Ross Obituary

It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mother Annie Boston Ross, also known as DooDa, who transitioned for labor to reward one day after turning the remarkable age of 100. Mother Ross expired on July 02, 2020 in McLeod Hospice House.  

The family of Mother Annie Boston Ross in consideration of the current health crisis facing our world, nation, state and local community, would love to be surrounded by your presence. They acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions and ask that those who attend the service ensure you are wearing a MASK and practice social distancing.  During this time, the family needs mostly your prayers and understanding. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.

Celebration of Life will be 12 Noon on Sunday, July 5, 2020 in Faith Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. 

Obituary

     “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters; he restores my soul.  He leads me in right paths for His name’s sake.”                                                       Psalm 23:1-3

     On Thursday, July 2, 2020 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, Mrs. Annie Mariah Boston Ross entered into her eternal rest.

     Mrs. Annie Mariah Ross was born on July 1, 1920 in Darlington, South Carolina the seventh child to the late Frank and Josephine Joshua Boston.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools.

    Annie Mariah was joined in holy matrimony to the late Charlie “Buddy” Ross, Jr.  To this union, three children were born: Margaret Edna, James Charles and Almeta.

    At an early age, she was converted, baptized and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Annie assist Brock Bacote in organizing the Usher Board at Pleasant Grove and Ushered until her declining health.

    “Dooda”, as she was known around the Community, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.  Those who knew her found her to be loyal, faithful and above all a Believer. Annie Mariah loved the Lord and her life exemplified that she had a personal relationship with Him.  Annie Mariah was a faithful soldier in the Army of the Lord.

     Annie Mariah leaves to treasure her memory:  three children: Margaret Edna Rogers, James (Kim) Ross both of Darlington, SC and Almeta (Stan) Lewis of Archdale, NC; eight grandchildren: Adrienne (Jermaine), Elizabeth, Charles Leonard, Kelly, Shon, Debbie, Lamar and Angel; four great grandchildren: Makayla, Aaron, Dezzman and Jadyn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers: Flossie, Sarah, Louise, Ida Ann, Frank Jr., Edwin, Hezekiah, Joseph and Nathaniel.
