The Legacy of Rebecca Dewitt
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makethme to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mineenemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runnethover. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23
Miss Rebecca Dewit received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School District graduating with the Class of 1978 and received her high school diploma from St. Johns High School. After graduating high school, Rebecca enrolled into Florence-Darlington Technical College where she received various certifications: Retail management; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). In 1980, Rebecca made an extremely difficult decision that most young adults would not be ready for. She made the ultimate sacrifice to delay her personal desires so that she could raise her three sons: Chadrick Dewitt (33) is a Captain in the United States Army; Elliott Dewitt (39) is an Engineer Tech and a well-known Entrepreneur around the state of SC and Aaron Dewitt (41) is a SGT in law enforcement. Judging by the outcome of her sons, who are now men with families, it’s evident that her sacrifice paid off.
Rebecca’s most enjoyable moments were daily walks for exercise, researching, sharing her Godly gift with world, riding through SC with her siblings, listening to music from the 70s and 80s, taking pictures of life’s most precious moments, and spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed gifting others and was always willing to give her last to help someone out.Rebecca had a rare gift and shared her life experiences with anyone, even complete strangers. With intentions to uplift, encourage, or show grace, she often shared her life’s purposewith anyone that needed inspiration, someone to talk to, or who simply needed a compliment to lift their spirits. Her life was not a secret, and she didn’t mind sharing her life story if would help someone out. Her generosity and loving spirit were something that she learned from her mother, Louise Dewitt.
Miss Rebecca Dewitt was the 8th blessing created by the late Louise and Nathaniel Dewitt. She was born in the state of South Carolina where she resided for 62 wonderful years. After 62 years of displaying incredible strength, courage, and faith, Miss Rebecca finally was able to take a break and rest on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in her own residence. Directly by her sideuntil the last second was her most wonderful achievements, her sons. She now can celebrate with her dear loved ones: Hermother, Louise Dewitt; Her father, Nathaniel Dewitt Sr.; Her sisters: Dicey Mae Dewitt and Shirley Ann Dewitt, and herbrother Nathaniel Dewitt, Jr.
Miss Rebecca is no longer with us physically, but the everlasting memories and wonderful time spent will be cherished forever. Her sons will continue to bring honor to her name, and always share her legacy in the highest regard: Her sons, Chadrick Dewitt (married to Shana Dewitt) of Clarksville, TN; Elliott Dewitt (Natalie Spradley) of Columbia, SC andAaron Dewitt (married to Chanel Dewitt) of Columbia, SC;Several grandkids; Three sisters: Ida M. Gregg (James Gregg), Gloria King both of Columbia, SC and Cynthia Roary of Florence, SC; Seven brothers: Willie Barr (Willie M.
