It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Miss Mary Frances Goodson of Darlington. Miss Goodson expired on Friday, February 21, 2020 in a Darlington nursing facility.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at New Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Faith Memorial Gardens.
~Obituary~
Miss Mary Frances Goodson was born in Darlington County, South Carolina on May 27, 1953 a daughter of the late Lessie and Ida Mae Williams Goodson. She entered into her final resting place on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Medford Nursing Center, Darlington, SC.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School System graduating from St. John High School Class of 1971. She furthered her education at Florence-Darlington Technical College receiving an Associate Degree and later at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC graduating with a BS degree in Business Management.
At an early age, Mary joined New Providence Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined.
Mary was employed as Secretary at Standard Beauty Supply Company, Darlington.
Frances as she was affectionately called by family and friends except her brother Mitch lovingly called her “Fran”. Frances was a very private and easy going person who loved her family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her siblings: Byrdie (Lessie) Joseph, Helen Lighty, Eunice (Robert) Holloman, Mitchell (Gloria) Goodson all of Darlington, SC and Tribut (Faye) Williamson of Winston-Salem, NC; her sisters-in-law: Rose Goodson, Clara Goodson and Georgia Mae Goodson; her brothers-in-law: James Guy and Hugh Guy of Hartsville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Harvey Slater; her siblings: Heyward Goodson, Douglas Goodson, Leo Goodson, Sylester Goodson, Wallace Goodson and Cary Williamson.
