Miss LaToya Patrice Sparks

It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Sparks family announces the passing of Miss LaToya Patrice Sparks of Lamar, SC.  "Toya" as she was affectionately called, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Funeral service is 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 04, 2022 in Spaulding Middle School Gym. Interment will follow in the Plaza Memorial Cemetery. 

Obituary 

       “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”  

    Miss Latoya Patrice Sparks was born March 23, 1985 in Darlington, South Carolina a daughter of Marsha Belinda Sparks and Robert Lee Dudley and reared as their own, Johnny McNeil and Louise Patricia Sparks McNeil.  She entered into her final resting place on Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Lake City, South Carolina.

    She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Lamar High School Class of 2003.

    Those left to cherish her memory are:  her mother, Marsha Belinda Sparks of Lamar, SC; her father, Robert Lee Dudley of Darlington, SC; Louise Patricia McNeil and Johnny McNeil who reared her as their own of Lamar, SC; two daughters: Shamya McCants of Lamar, SC and Zykeria Sparks of Lake City, SC; her two grandchildren: Noah Latrell Sparks and Shawnquavis Shyka Sparks, Jr.; two sisters: Latosha (Tony) Dolford of Darlington, SC and Regina Torain of Hartsville, SC; her god-parents, Sabrina and Tilman Scott of Lake City, SC; a special uncle, Joe Louis Sparks of Lamar, SC; a close and dear friend,  Nadine George of Timmonsville, SC; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Shawnquavis “Shy” Sparks, Sr. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of her aunt and uncle, Louise “Patricia” McNeil and Johnny McNeil, Jr., 635 Bay Branch Road, Lamar, SC.
