With heartfelt sympathy, Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., and members of the Sheppard family announce the passing of Miss Daneeka Sheppard of New York, NY, formerly of Darlington, SC. Miss Sheppard transitioned Thursday, November 6, 2025.

NYC funeral arrangements are in the care of the International Funeral Service of New York II and will be held 9:00 AM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 1761 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, 2 Saw Mill River Rd, Yonkers, NY. 

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church, 124 Theressa Drive, Darlington, SC.

Obituary

    Miss Daneeka Sheppard was born on March 21, 2006 in Jamaica Queens, New York, the beloved daughter of Christopher Sheppard and the late Cecelia Walker. She entered into her eternal rest Thursday, November 6, 2025 in Memorial Salan Ketter Cancer Hospital, New York, New York, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and quiet strength.

    Daneeka received her formal education in the Darlington County Public School District, proudly graduating from Darlington High School Class of 2024. Throughout her school years, she participated in several activities including band at Darlington Middle School, as well as cheerleading and the Lavender Ladies at Darlington High School.

     Known for her gentle spirit and caring heart, Daneeka was a devoted daughter, auntie, and godmother. She shared a special bond with those she loved and touched countless hearts with her warm presence.

    Following graduation, she attended Benedict College, where she pursued her passion for helping others through a career in Social Work.

    Daneeka’s love and memory will be forever cherished by her mother/godmother, Rosemary Jones of Darlington, SC; auntie/godmother, Ronnette Blair-Bess of Darlington, SC; aunties: Linda Miller of Darlington, SC, Frankie Jones of New York and Tanisha Walker of Connecticut; brothers: Romar Jones of Columbia, SC, Ta’Monte R’Nasia Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Zane Jones of Darlington, SC and Damian Waller of New York; sisters: Jaquana Kinard of Charlotte, NC, and Tia Middleton of New York; additional sisters: Kristine, Shahara, Abrianna and Shannae of New York.

    She is also survived by a host of nieces, cousin, extended family, and friends who will continue to carry her light in their hearts.

    May her soul rest in eternal peace.
