It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Ms. Alean Brown of Darlington. Ms. Brown expired on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Oakhaven Nursing Home.
Funeral service is 1:00 pm Friday, January 29, 2021 At Mt. Rona Baptist Church Churchyard. Interment will follow in church Cemetery.
Obituary
Miss Alean Brown was born in Darlington County, SC on February 15, 1944 a daughter of the late John Lee Brown and Janie Mae Woods Brown. She entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where she attended Rosenwald High School.
She was a member of St. James Holiness Church where she proudly served on the Usher Board.
Alean was employed with Home Healthcare and several other jobs.
“Auman”, as she was affectionately called, was a pillar in the community and the backbone of the family. She never met a stranger…. “To know her was to love her.” “Auman” will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Cellistine Brown; a grandson, Shaquan Brown; her siblings: James Brown, Betty Mae Smith, William Brown, Lee Brown and Evans Brown; a brother-in-law, Albert Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her children: Janice Brown, Barbara Green, Jermaine Brown and Freda Brown (Don) Wright; a sister, Rosa Mae Allen; eleven grandchildren: Aquarius Brown, Shakuan Brown, Craig Jamal Brown, Kedeysha Brown, Venike Brown, Malik Brown, Porcha Brown, Justice Brown, Sincere Brown, Makenna Brown and Rhyon Brown; sixteen great grandchildren; nieces: Cynthia Smith, Dorothy Smith, Beverly Smith andTonya Allen; nephews: Roy Smith, Darrell Smith and James Smith; a host of grandnieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation for relatives and friends is held at the residence of a daughter, Barbara Green, 241 East McIver Road, Darlington. Mask wearing is required.
