It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., announces the passing of Minister Carol D. Graham Larts of the Dovesville community of Darlington County. Minister Larts exchanged time for eternity with a peaceful transition on Monday, May 6, 2024, at her residence following an illness.
Funeral service with military honors will be held 2 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Mt Zion Baptist Church, 3208 N. Governor Williams Hwy, Darlington, SC, with interment to follow in the Mt Zion Baptist Church cemetery.
Obituary
Minister Carol Denise Graham Larts was born to the late Elijah Graham and Bessie Mae Joint Graham on January 24, 1960 in Darlington County, SC. She entered into her final resting place on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the home of her son after a battle with cancer.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools (Rosenwald). Minister Carol joined the United States Army in 1978 and after 6 years she was honorably discharged. She worked as a custodian in Darlington County School District for 28 years before enjoying her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, traveling to Africa and being a missionary for people in need. She also served voluntarily with the Red Cross, which she enjoyed.
She was united in marriage to the late Willie “Poly Pig” Larts on January 6, 1993.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are: her children: Lachonda (Turron) Johnson of Philadelphia, PA who now resides in her home, Jamaal (Sarmeka) Baynes of Darlington, SC and Jeremy (Shina) Baynes, Norcross, GA; eleven grandchildren: Rahkia Baynes, Rasheim Baynes, Jahsir Baynes, Kurron Johnson, David Johnson, TJ Brown, Tyneef Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Mason Baynes, Alyssa Glover and Jenisys Baynes; one great-granddaughter, Khalia Baynes; her brothers: Jimmy (Betty) Graham, Willie Graham, Elijah Graham, Jr., Christopher (Daveda) Graham and Anthony (Deborah) Graham; her sisters: Angela Stewart, Faye Graham, Patricia S. Mills, Nancy (Willie) Tedder, Sadie (Michael) Kinley, Amelia (Jimmy) Smith, Melvin (Mittie Rea) Joint, Willie (Gloria) Smith; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives & friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Elijah Graham and mother, Bessie Mae Graham; her husband, Willie Larts, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Mae Graham; a sister and brother-in-law, Emma Ann (Kenneth) Jordan and brother, Randy “Russell” Smith.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the residence of a son, 305 Dovesville Highway, Darlington, SC.
