Evangelist Cannon passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
Tuesday, February 4th to Thursday, February 6th, from 12:00 PM noon to 5:00 PM, the family will receive condolences and friends at the residence located at 3945 Hoffmeyer Road, Darlington, SC.
Public viewing will be 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc., 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held 12:00 PM Noon, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Divine Destiny Family Ministries, 3824 Oak Dr., Florence, SC. Interment will follow in Odom Cemetery, Knotty Pine Dr, Darlington, SC.

Evangelist Melissia Coe Cannon was born in Darlington, South Carolina on July 2, 1935 a daughter of the late Lawrence Coe, Sr., and Roseanne Shannon Coe. She was called from her earthly labor to Glory on Friday, January 31, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.
She received her formal education at Providence Elementary and Mayo High School in Darlington, South Carolina.
On March 5, 1953, she was joined in holy matrimony to her sweetheart, Dozier Cannon, Jr. They were married for seventeen years and to this union a son, Jerry Lewis Cannon, was born.
She was employed at Nytronics in Darlington, SC, and later was employed at General Electric where she retired in 2006.
At the age of 12, Melissia gave her life to Christ. Many years later, she received her calling into the ministry as an evangelist and excepted the call in 1985 under the leadership of Reverend Fred A. Bulluck Pastor of Peaceful Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC. While there, she organized a Youth Choir, served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Pastor's Aide Ministry, and sang on the Gospel Choir. In 1987, she was commissioned by God to go to the Palmer Work Release Centerwhere she worked over 30 plus years. She also provided services at Darlington Prison Farm with the help of other ministers and friends. In 2004, Evangelist Cannon joined Divine Destiny Family Worship Center, Florence, SC with Bishop Russell W. Nelson, Sr. and First Lady Esther Nelson. She was the Associate Minister and Mother of the Church.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are: her grandson, Erick (Maria) Cannon; her granddaughter, Melody Cannon; her brother, Alfred “Man” Coe; her sister, Annie Ruth Coe; her great grandchildren: Harmony Cannon, Jeremiah Cannon, Nehemiah Curry and Symphony Curry; great-great grandchild, Alana Cannon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Evangelist Melissia Cannon was preceded in death by: her husband, Dozier Cannon, Jr.; her son, Jerry Lewis Cannon; fourteen siblings; two grandsons: Patrick J. Cannon and Dozier A. Cannon.
