It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. and members of the Singletary announces the passing of Deacon Jerome Singletary. Deacon Singletary exchanged time for eternity at his residence on Monday, January 2, 2023 with his relatives by side following an illness.
Funeral service is 2:00PM on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dovesville Hwy. Interment will follow in Gandy Cemetery.
Life’s Reflections
A TIME TO BE BORN: Mr. Jerome Singletary was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 19, 1956, a son of the late Robert Singletary and Queen Ester Campbell Singletary. He was one of twelve children.
A TIME TO LIVE: He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Rosenwald High School, Society Hill, SC, Class of 1974. On December 29, 1996, he was united in marriage to Patty Isaac Singletary. He was employed with Galey & Lord for 34 years, Jerome was dedicated and hardworking. He would later be employed with Citi Trends Distribution Center until he retired due to illness.
A TIME TO WORSHIP: In his tender years, he was a member of the Greater Bethesda Baptist Church, Society Hill, SC. Later, he would become a faithful member of the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church, Darlington, SC where he served as a Deacon, a member of the ALW Choir, Men’s Chorus and Pastor’s Aide. Because of his love for singing, many would call him St. Paul’s singing Deacon.
A TIME TO DIE: On Monday, January 2, 2023, he transitioned from this life to be with his Heavenly Father. Jerome was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, church member and friend. He was preceded in addition to his parents: his father and mother-in-law: Abe and Julia Isaac; two brothers: Kenneth Singletary and Derek Singletary; two sisters: Carolyn Singletary and Dora Singletary; a brother-in-law, Frank Williams.
A TIME TO CELEBRATE: Jerome leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Patty I. Singletary of the home; children: Kathy (Brandon), Jarvis (Christine), Angelica and Hector (Latisha); four sisters: Phyllis (Herbert) Walls, Teresa Williams, Eliza Ann (Lorenzo) McClain and Roslind Smith; five brothers: Edward Singletary, Toney (Evelyn) Singletary, Travis Singletary, Jerry (RaShunne) Singletary and Terry Singletary; a sister-in-law, Priscilla (Leroy) Bush; two brothers-in-law: Johnny Isaac and Albert Solomon; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends. Special caregiver, Gloria Harkless.
Visitation for relatives and friends of Mr. Jerome Singletary will be held at 1335 Mechanicsville Highway, Darlington daily from from 3:00PM to 9:00PM.
