It is with heartfelt sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Deacon Hazel McQueen of Society Hill. Mr. McQueen transitioned on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in a Cheraw Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 11AM on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hazel McQueen was born in Darlington County on June 29, 1947 the fourth son of the late Rochie and the late Allie Cox McQueen. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at McLeod Medical Hospital, Cheraw, SC after an illness.
He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County graduating from Rosenwald High School Class of 1965.
Hazel joined Bethesda Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful and dedicated member. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the Deacon Board Ministry, Usher Ministry, and Men’s Chorus.
Hazel was joined in holy matrimony to the late Julia Elizabeth Jackson. Their union was blessed with two sons.
He was employed at Sonoco Products of Hartsville, retiring after 27 years of service.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are: three sons, Alvin (Angela) McQueen and Warren (Wendy) McQueen, both of Darlington, SC, Calvin (Valerie) Ludd of Columbia, SC and one daughter, Angela(Carl) Isaac of Hartsville, SC, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother, Curtis (Ella) McQueen of Hamden, Connecticut, one sister, Bonnie (Kevin) Seals of Society Hill, South Carolina, seven sister-in-laws, and three brother-in-laws. A special friend, Ms. Patricia B. Douglas, special grandchildren, special great grand children of Cheraw, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three brothers; Otis, Rochie, and Nathaniel, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
The McQueen Family will receive relatives and friends at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Angela McQueen of 1243 Meadow Lark Lane, Darlington.
