Mother Emeritus McCullough transitioned Thursday, June 5, 2025, at home surrounded by love.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held daily from 3:00 to 8:00 pm daily at the residence, 920 Mineral Springs Road, Darlington, SC.
Public viewing will be held 12:00 - 4:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2025, at Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, 612 S Main St, Darlington, SC.
Homegoing Celebration will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Tabernacle Worship Center, 1200 S Main St, Darlington, SC. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd, Darlington, SC.

Church Mother Emeritus Dora Wingate McCullough quietly and serenely passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. Her transition was calm and placid. Church Mother Emeritus McCullough was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She never met a stranger and always exemplified a caring heart and loving spirit.
A native of Darlington County and affectionately known as “Cle” by her family and friends, Dora was born on January 3, 1943, to the late Mr. Joseph Wingate, Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Jacobs Wingate. The ninth of eleven children, she received her education in the Darlington County Public Schools. She retired from the Darlington County School District after 30 years of service.
At an early age, she attended Community Church with her parents. Then later in life she joined Tabernacle Worship Center formally known as Tabernacle Holiness Church where she served faithfully until her health declined.
Church Mother Emeritus McCullough was preceded in death by siblings: Mr. Otis Wingate, Miss Annie Mae Wingate, Mr. Joseph Wingate, Jr, Mrs. Pecola Gattison, Mrs. RebellRobinson, Mrs. Sarah Williamson, Mr. Edward Wingate, Mrs.Ernestine Zimmerman and Mrs. Deloris Graham;granddaughters, Miss Miracle Wingate and Mrs. Latoya Goodman.
Rejoicing in her beautiful memory yet mourning their loss are her children: Mr. Warren (Willistine) Wingate of Harlem, NY, and Elder Calvin (Reverend Carrie) Wingate of Hinesville, GA, Mrs. Ruby (Adam) Hamlin and Deacon Deborah Wingate both of Darlington, SC; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Betty W. McCall of Darlington, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Eloise Wingate of Darlington, SC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; all who will miss her dearly.
