It is with profound sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Albert McKay of Thomasville, NC and formally of Darlington, SC. Mr. McKay expired on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in a High Point, NC medical facility.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2020 in The Church In The Lord Jesus Christ Of The Apostles' Doctrine Inc, 2449 Calvary Rd, Hartsville, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Brother Albert “Pa” McKay was born on December 9, 1943 in Darlington County, South Carolina a son of the late Prince McKay, Sr. and Leila Greene McKay. He departed this life on Thursday, February 12, 2020 at Highpoint Medical Center, High Point, NC.
He received his formal education in the Darlington County Public Schools where he attended Rosenwald High School, Society Hill, SC.
He was a member of The Church In The Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles’ Doctrine, Inc. and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. His daughter recalls him being a “Church Person” and he mostly talked to her about the Bible. “Pa” will be truly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, relatives, friends and those who came to know him.
Later in his life, he relocated to Thomasville, NC where he worked for the Thomasville Furniture Company for many years. He liked going out to eat and going to church. He was a member of the branch church in Danville, VA where he took great pride in looking after the needs of the church there until his health failed.
Preceding him to the grave was: his mother and father, Prince and Leila McKay; a daughter, Cathy McKay James; his siblings: Jessie McKay, Prince McKay, Louise Tedder, Betty Tedder and Elizabeth Harrison.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his son, Albert McKay, Jr.; his daughters: Betha (Chris) Gray, Leila (Jason) Mitchell and Aleca McKay all of Darlington, SC; a favorite granddaughter that ran to his aid when he was ill, Latasha Brown of Greensboro, NC; 8 grandchildren; special great grandsons “His Boys”, Kashton Brown and Kingston Hickson both of Darlington; several other great grandchildren; his siblings: Juanita (Eugene) Tedder of Dovesville, Lucy (Charles) Jacobs of Society Hill and Lucille McNeil of Darlington; a favorite son-in-law, Joshua Robinson; brother and sister-in-law: Louise McKay of Bishopville, James Harrison of Winston Salem, NC and Wilhelmena Johnson of Shiloh, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a large church family.
Visitation for relatives and friends of the McKay family will be held at the residence of a sister, Lucy Jacobs, 132 Lumber Road, Society Hill, SC.
